A new Board has been elected for 2012 and assumed responsibility as of the 1st meeting in October. We would like to thank and congratulate our new board member Cathy Diblich for sharing her time and efforts!
What do Board Members Do?
Board Members attend meetings all year round to make decisions and see that things run as smoothly as possible. We pay the bills, write the newsletters, select/order fundraiser items, request field time from the Township/Park Districts, create flyers, contact schools for approval/distribution, field phone calls, get sponsors, contact newspapers, secure a photographer, apply for permission from the Fire Department and ask for their participation in the parade—all this is before registration begins. Then, we welcome players/families at registration, run the mini-camps and evaluations, recruit managers, oversee the draft, order equipment and uniforms, sort and bag all those uniforms, conduct uniform pick-up nights, get umpires, update rules, take care of the field maintenance, stock/run the concession stand, maintain the funds and bank accounts of the league, etc, etc, etc. When the regular season nears its close-we order trophies and plan the picnic while running our highly successful July Heat Tournaments.
Board meetings are scheduled for the 2nd and 4th Mondays of every month. *Meetings take place at the Westdale Park District Building located at 3045 Sandra. If you have any ideas that you feel will help improve the organization, just want to volunteer your time and help out or just want to come to listen to see what we do, please feel free to attend. Everyone is welcome to the open meetings. From now until the beginning of the season meetings begin at 7pm. Once the season starts, meetings will begin at 8:30pm.
* ALL BOARD MEETINGS WILL BE HELD AT THE LEYDEN COMMUNITY CENTER UNTIL THE SEASON BEGINS!
